Our Key People
Michael Simpson and Peter Schelfhout
have worked together since they both began their apprenticeships at
the same kitchen company as 16-year-olds. They forged a friendship that
has lasted more than two decades.
Born entrepreneurs, they struck out on their own in
1992 under the business name of Perennial Kitchens. Two years
later, they incorporated the business as a company and the rest, as
they say, is history.
A few years later they bought the business of their
original employer when he retired, including the factory the business occupied
in Michellan Court, Bayswater. In June 2007 the company moved to
its much larger factory in order to cope with their current rate of expansion
into the foreseeable future. In late 2009, their visionary new
creative division, The Kitchen Design Centre, will open in Bridge Street, Eltham.
Michael and Peter attribute their success to their
long-standing vision of becoming the best kitchen company in Australia,
a hands-on, collaborative, lead-by-example management style, and a tireless
commitment to streamlining and systematising all production processes
and technologies to guarantee the most stringent professional standards
and the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction in the industry.
If "the proof of the pudding is in the eating",
their pre-eminent position as the manufacturer-of-choice of so many
Melbourne architects and kitchen design professionals, is powerful evidence
that they're achieving their far-reaching vision.
